Getting started

Quick start guide

Get your first rentable product live in about thirty minutes. These steps assume you already installed RentalSuite.

Step 1. Open the app

From Shopify Admin, go to Apps → RentalSuite. The Dashboard opens first.

Step 2. Check billing (optional)

Open Billing to see your plan and how many products you can link (Free / Standard / Enterprise). You can stay on Free while testing.

Step 3. Add the Rental product page block (required)

This puts Rent, Buy, and Subscribe on the product details page. App embeds (step 3b) do not replace this step.

  1. Open Storefront in the app.
  2. Follow the link into the theme editor on your product template.
  3. In the left sidebar, open Apps (or Add block → Apps).
  4. Add Rental product page as its own Apps section (full width)—below the breadcrumb and above related products.
  5. Keep your theme’s Product information section enabled — do not hide it in the theme editor. RentalSuite shows the Rental product page block for linked products and your theme’s normal buy box for unlinked or never-linked products on the same template. Keep the breadcrumb visible.
  6. Click Save (top right).
  7. Open a linked product on the Online Store and hard-refresh.

Step 3b. Enable app embeds (required)

Theme-wide helpers (cart guard, collection cards, post-checkout sync). Do this in addition to the product page block above—not instead of it.

  1. In the theme editor, open Theme settings → App embeds.
  2. Turn ON the RentalSuite embeds:
    • Rental cart guard (required for cart promos and booking holds)
    • Rental collection cards
    • Rental post-checkout sync
  3. Click Save.

Link a Shopify catalog product or create a rental product in the app before you publish to the storefront.

  1. Open Products.
  2. Use Link products / Add from Shopify to attach a catalog product.
  3. Complete Details & Pricing (rent / buy / subscribe modes, rates).
  4. Set Inventory (fleet stock or serial units).
  5. Review Availability & Settings (min/max days, locations).
  6. Save.

Step 5. Test on the storefront

  1. Open the product on your Online Store.
  2. Confirm Rent and Buy (and Subscribe if enabled) appear.
  3. Select dates, confirm totals, and run a test checkout on a development store.

Step 6. Create or review a booking

  1. Open Bookings & Inquiries.
  2. Confirm the test booking appears, or use New Booking to create an admin booking.
  3. Open the booking detail to see period, fulfillment, and status actions.

Complete your setup (in-app checklist)

The app Getting started guide tracks a few more steps. Finish these so the checklist shows verified—not only for Subscribe shops.

Pickup locations (required)

  1. Open Settings → Locations.
  2. Add at least one active pickup location customers can select at checkout.

Detail: Settings & locations.

Shopify Order confirmation email (required)

  1. In Email Templates, copy the Shopify Order confirmation Liquid snippet.
  2. Open Shopify Admin → Settings → Notifications → Order confirmation → Edit code.
  3. Paste the Liquid and save so pickup location and rental promo lines appear on order emails.

Detail: Email templates & notifications.

Checkout & customer account blocks (required for setup completion)

Needed for Subscribe, the customer subscriptions portal, and post-purchase rental UI. Basic Rent checkout can work without the blocks, but the in-app checklist still expects you to configure or acknowledge this step.

  1. Follow Storefront rentals → Checkout & customer account blocks—including the Subscriptions menu on the customer account.
